What is Neighbor-To-Neighbor? | Emmaus Homes

Remember in school when you had a pen pal or wrote letters to people overseas? Remember the feeling when you knew your letter was received. Remember how much of a difference YOU made?

The Neighbor to Neighbor program at Emmaus can give you that feeling again and more! Neighbor to Neighbor involves building a consistent presence with one particular home. Inside that home you’ll get to know some great people – adults with developmental disabilities. Whether it’s exchanging cards, enjoying community activities together or simply maintaining the yard, it is sure to meet the home’s needs and yours.

Emmaus clients would LOVE to hear from you. We encourage clients to communicate back, but because they stay on-the go and may not always receive assistance from the same staff person every day, it can mean that things like a thank you note may slip through the cracks. If you’re ready to express unconditional acceptance and connection with Emmaus clients sign up now. It would mean the world!

Some things you can accomplishing when joining Neighbor to Neighbor include:

  • Sending Birthday & Holiday Cards
  • Exchanging Inexpensive Gifts
  • Visiting the Home
  • Going on Outings
  • Meeting Other Needs of the Home

Small group and one-to-one connections are especially helpful for our clients. Even from afar, you can help Emmaus clients feel connected to the world by consistently communicating with them. You can participate as an individual, a group, a family, a church, or however you’d like.

Once you register, we can send you materials upon request such as greeting cards, to help you stay connected with our clients.
