Rakes and Shovels and Paintbrushes – Oh, My!

With more than 80 homes in communities spread out over four counties, the facilities and maintenance staff at Emmaus has their work cut out for them. Volunteer groups from local businesses, churches, schools and service organizations step in throughout the year to help with tasks like raking leaves, putting down mulch, fixing landscaping, digging a driveway, painting rooms, repairing decks, and much more. Helping with a work project not only supports our facilities staff, but is often an educational and uplifting experience for the volunteers. Many volunteers leave feeling like they have gained a better understanding about community living and Emmaus’ services.

Here is a list of corporate and community partners that are supporting Emmaus by completing a work project (or multiple projects) this year:

Bethel UCC – Mission Camp, completed several yard clean-ups.

Boeing – Donated funds and volunteers for repairing and painting a deck at a community home.

Calvary Church – Painted at two community homes.

Church of the Shepherd – Yard clean-up and fixing landscaping at a community home.

Enterprise Fleet Management – Yardwork at a community home.

Express Scripts – Yardwork at several community homes.

Faith in Action Heritage Cluster – Cleaned up Friendship Pond on Marthasville campus.

Lindenwood University – Yardwork at community homes.

Maryville University – Yardwork at community homes.

Mastercard – Yardwork at community homes; Painting at community homes; Dug a new driveway at one home; Fixed a deck and landscaping.

Miami University – Yardwork at 3 community homes.

Restore St. Charles – Monthly maintenance projects at community homes in St. Charles County.

Rubin Brown – Yardwork at several community homes.

St. Louis University – Yardwork at several community homes.

St. Peter’s UCC Ferguson – Mission Camp; completed several work projects.

St. Philip’s UCC – Mission Camp; completed several work projects.

Stonebridge Senior Living – Painted rooms at a community home.

U.S. Bank – Yardwork at 3 community homes.

United Healthcare – Fixing landscaping and digging driveway at a community home.

United Way GenNext – Yardwork and planting flowers at 2 community homes.
