Emmaus Announced 2017 Health at Work Award Winner | Emmaus Homes

Emmaus has been announced a Silver winner of the 13th-annual Health at Work Awards sponsored by ComPsych, honoring organizations who promote employee health and wellness. Winners were selected based on their wellness program’s comprehensiveness, delivery, promotion, participation rates and results achieved. ComPsych Corporation is the world’s largest provider of employee assistance programs and is the pioneer and worldwide leader of fully integrated EAP, behavioral health, wellness, work-life, HR, FMLA and absence management services under its GuidanceResources brand.

We applaud Emmaus for promoting health and wellness and improving the lives of employees,” said Dr. Richard A. Chaifetz, Chairman and CEO of ComPsych.

While the original program was initially designed to help Emmaus curb healthcare costs, it has evolved into so much more! I personally have benefited from the program. After receiving my health outcomes report last year, I made a decision to start a wellness journey to positively impact my health. About 8 months ago, I began an exercise program and have also modified my diet to include primarily whole foods. Since then I’ve lost 38 pounds and my health outcomes have all improved. My most recent health assessment showed improvements in my cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose, and best of all, I have stopped my blood pressure medication!” said Cindy Clark, President & CEO of Emmaus Homes.

I was also excited to initiate financial wellness training to our employees through the Dave Ramsey SmartDollar program. Personal finances create a great deal of stress for employees which often distracts them from their work. Our goal is to give our employees the tools to feel confident about their financial situation and create a path to financial independence and wealth building. We already have some great testimonials about the success of the program. I hope that someday soon I’ll get to witness one of our employees do their debt free scream!

Some highlights of Emmaus’s health and wellness program include:

  • A $1200 yearly incentive for participating in the Living Healthy Wellness Program
  • Wellness events and engaging exercise related challenges
  • Company match retirement plan and financial wellness program from Dave Ramsey
  • Spiritual support to aid in grief due to death or other personal problems
