Pentecost Sunday at Emmaus | Emmaus Homes

Pentecost is often celebrated as the birthday of the Church. It is the day that we remember when the Holy Spirit first descended upon and moved among the disciples, calling them to continue the work of Jesus Christ in the world. Often it is celebrated by those gathering wearing red (the color that generally symbolizes the movement of Holy Spirit in liturgical colors).

At Emmaus we will be gathering for our FIRST in-person (outdoor) worship service! It will be a truly celebratory worship service. We will be meeting in the parking lot of Faith UCC Wentzville, where we will sing together, pray together, hear God’s word for our lives, and have a few extra surprises, like ribbon streamers for all to wave in the wind and cookies.

We are excited to be able to celebrate the birthday of the church together, to celebrate that even when we are spread apart we are the church together, and to be renewed in worship for our continued call to be led by the Spirit as we do the work of Jesus in the world.
