Adaptive Solutions Celebrates a Strong First Year of Impact
As FY26 comes to a close, Emmaus has a lot to celebrate through the first year of Adaptive Solutions.
Adaptive Solutions was created to help individuals and families make homes safer, more accessible, and better suited to the people who live there. From bathroom modifications and lifts to mobility supports and other accessibility improvements, the work is practical, personal, and deeply connected to independence.
In its first year, Adaptive Solutions helped meet a clear need in our community. The team completed 75 projects for 70 individuals and families, including 51 community customers, 19 individuals supported through Emmaus’ residential services, and five repeat customers. More than 190 requests for home modification services were received, underscoring both the demand for accessible home modifications and their impact on individuals and families.
But the real story is not in the numbers. It is in the daily routines that become safer. It is in the homes that become easier to navigate. It is in the families who feel relief when a long-awaited modification is finally complete.
Adaptive Solutions also expanded its ability to serve families through new partnerships and opportunities. Earlier this year, Emmaus became the sole SureHands partner in the region, allowing Adaptive Solutions to design, install, and service specialized transfer systems that increase independence while reducing physical strain on caregivers. The team also became a contracted provider with Voc Rehab, creating a new referral and funding pathway for home modification services and expanding Adaptive Solutions’ ability to serve a broader customer base.
For families, these projects can make a meaningful difference. A safer shower, a lift, a mobility support, or a home accessibility update can change how someone moves through their day. These modifications help people remain connected to their homes, routines, and communities with greater confidence and comfort.
As Adaptive Solutions looks ahead to FY27, the team is building on a strong first year with new processes, an established team, and a growing pipeline of projects. The work ahead is exciting, but the purpose remains the same: creating safer, more accessible homes that help people live with greater independence, comfort, and dignity.
